Dustin Hoffman: 5 Awesome Performances & 5 That Sucked

1. Edward Magorium - Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium (2007)

One of the funniest jokes in Breaking Bad comes from the penultimate episode, where Walter is on the run and brought to a remote cabin to hide out. He doesn't have access to the internet or television, and he only has two DVD copies of Mr. Magorium€™s Wonder Emporium for entertainment. Zack Helm €“ the writer/director of the film - agreed the movie would serve as fitting punishment for Walt€™s crimes. Mr. Magorium is a Technicolor kids movie in the vein of Willy Wonka, only much more irritating. Hoffman is the title character, a hyperactive cartoon of a man who grates fiercely on the nerves from his very first scene. Both he and Natalie Portman must have had severe muscle aches from the amount of forced smiling they had to do, and the shop itself is a nightmarish clash of garish colours and CGI creatures. The movie has its heart in the right place, but like the director himself has said, it€™s a train wreck not even Dustin Hoffman could save. Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
