14. Mercy
Another disappointing effort from Buried writer Chris Sparling, Mercy had so much potential to be a unique home invasion thriller, but soon enough gives way to tedium thanks to a lack of likable characters and an increasingly predictable away of plot twists.
It looks pretty and the acting is fairly decent for the most part, but there are some jarring tonal and perspective shifts, and it just doesn't add up to a particularly interesting or satisfying experience.
When people use "straight to Netflix" derisively, this is the exact sort of movie they mean: nobody liked it enough to actually get it in cinemas.
