25. End Of Days

Arnold Schwarzenegger Ranked
Beuna Vista

End of Days isn't exactly what you'd call peak Arnold - coming just a few years before his run for governor - but it is quietly fascinating in that, while still rooted in the action genre, it's far bleaker than the actor's other efforts from the time. Directed by Peter Hyams - who also helmed John-Claude Van Damme vehicles Time Cop and Sudden Death - End of Days is dark, bleak, and typically apocalyptic, following in the footsteps of its existential nineties brethren by having Arnie unearth a satanic conspiracy that threatens to bring about armageddon. Not typical fare for Schwarzenegger, but a competent and surprisingly atmospheric entry in his filmography all the same.
