Every Ben Affleck Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
10. Shakespeare In Love (1998)
Shakespeare in Love will forever endure as the film that inexplicably beat Saving Private Ryan for the Best Picture Oscar - a status that's earned it an unfair share of disdain over the last 25 years.
While certainly not a better film than Spielberg's towering war epic, this cute, frothy period rom-com is an entertaining sit, largely courtesy of the witty writing - serving as a love letter to the Bard - and knowing ensemble cast.
Affleck was persuaded to play the small role of Ned Alleyn by Harvey Weinstein, and though it is certainly a small role where he sticks out like a sore thumb, as part of the cast he won the Screen Actors Guild award for Best Ensemble.
It's a good movie, but awarding it Best Picture is a decision that's aged like milk.
