Every Ben Affleck Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
3. Gone Girl (2014)
Affleck has perhaps never been better cast in any role than as Nick Dunne in David Fincher's Gone Girl - a man whose wife (Rosamund Pike) disappears and he soon enough becomes the prime suspect.
Affleck's superficially suave persona both on screen and in reality made him a perfect fit for a man who audiences were asked to scrutinise for signs of possible guilt.
Opposite a brilliant, Oscar-nominated Pike, they make quite the fiery pair in an impeccably crafted thriller that elevates the inherent silliness of Gillian Flynn's airport novel through both its ensemble cast and Fincher's peerless technical craft.
No film this silly should feel this meticulous in its details, but Fincher knows exactly what he's doing, ultimately holding a mirror up to the audience and asking them to consider their own marriages and romances. Genius-level filmmaking.
