Every Cillian Murphy Movie Ranked Worst To Best

8. Dunkirk (2017)

Cillian Murphy Inception
Warner Bros.

There's no sole protagonist in Chris Nolan's Dunkirk, only a packed ensemble coming together to explore the horrors of World War II and one of its most uncertain hours.

Amongst the rabble, Cillian Murphy stars as a stricken soldier suffering from PTSD, forced to return to the place he's only just escaped and driven to temporary madness by his trauma. His turn is brief but harrowing, a nerve-rattling portrait of a man irrevocably changed by the horrors of war.

In a long line of roles depicting soldiers shaken by their experiences, this is Murphy's best, and of Dunkirk's impressive cast, he's one of the film's most memorable standouts, giving a performance impossible to shake.
