4. Lilo & Stitch
Lilo & Stitch is one of those films which makes you wish the major studios would have more faith in original concepts. Disney's traditionally animated movies tend to be adaptations of well-loved classics, so when they take a gamble on a new idea it's great to see if pay off with a warm, funny film like Lilo & Stitch.
Lilo & Stitch bears some resemblance to Brad Bird's 1999 film The Iron Giant. Both feature a child from a single parent family who befriend an alien, while a government agent snoops around getting closer and closer to the truth. While Lilo & Stitch isn't set in the same era, the bouncy Elvis Presley soundtrack and Hawaiian setting lend it a nostalgic feel which is just as endearing.
The franchise has continued to grow through television series and straight-to-DVD releases, making Lilo & Stitch one of the most enduring of all Disney's original properties.
