Every Fast & Furious Movie Ranked Worst To Best

4. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs And Shaw (2019)

Furious 7

Sometimes, what a long-running franchise needs is a good palate cleanser. Star Wars did it with Rogue One and The Mandalorian, defying the series' seemingly iron-clad formula, and the Fast Saga recently gave it a go with the spin-off Hobbs and Shaw.

Starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham in the eponymous roles, Hobbs and Shaw finds the uneasy foes teaming up with Shaw's MI6 agent sister Hattie (a scene-stealing Vanessa Kirby) to take down a cybernetically enhanced supervillain (Idris Elba) who's threatening to unleash a devastating virus on the world.

Yes, that write-up is accurate, and no, Hobbs and Shaw wastes no time digging into the entertaining ridiculousness of its premise.

Anchored by Johnson and Statham's easy chemistry and comedy stylings, the spin-off features all the insanity of the saga's mainline movies, whilst serving as a fun world-saving action flick in its own right.

A nice break from the misadventures of Dom and co., Hobbs and Shaw is mindless action at its unapologetic finest, but is funny and surprising enough (Ryan Reynolds cameo? Check) to justify its existence in the wider Fast mythology.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool.
