Every Fast & Furious Movie Ranked Worst To Best
3. The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)
Initially something of a Fast spin-off from first-time franchise director Justin Lin, Tokyo Drift eventually spawned one of the most important and frequently talked about subplots of the entire series.
Although eventually retconned to fit into the wider series chronology, Tokyo Drift still feels like a black sheep of the saga, featuring only one solitary frame of Dominic Toretto and moving the action to the winding streets of Japan.
Underrated and scarcely referenced outside of conversations explaining Han's complex backstory, the franchise's third instalment is seriously great car racing fun, following street racer Sean Boswell as he becomes interested in Tokyo's drifting scene.
Though, admittedly, Lucas Black's central performance is remarkably flat and Sean is frequently overshadowed by the much more interesting Han, such character flaws aren't enough to take away from the heart-pounding excitement of the film's dangerous driving stunts and refreshingly original premise.
A threequel in desperate need of a reappraisal (especially now that Sung Kang's back), Tokyo Drift is the freshest and most entertainingly unique instalment of the entire franchise.
