Every George A Romero Movie Ranked Worst To Best

10. The Dark Half

For the second time in his career Romero tackles Stephen King, and if The Dark Half ultimately isn’t as satisfying or as much fun as Creepshow, it’s still one of the better 1990s adaptations of the big guy’s work. Remember, this is the decade that gave us five Children Of The Corn sequels as well as Hilary Swank in Sometimes They Come Back… Again.

This is the one about the author who holds a fake funeral for his pseudonym but then his alter ego comes to life with murder on his mind and starts working his way through the supporting cast. A cast, by the way, that includes Robert Joy (also in Land Of The Dead), Beth Grant and Julie Harris. Michael Rooker, years away from The Walking Dead, plays the Sheriff.

This was another of Romero’s studio movies and armed with a decent budget, he serves the material up with the style it deserves. The experience of working in the studio system must’ve grated for him, though – he didn’t make another picture for seven years.
