Every James Bond Finale Ranked

3. The Spy Who Loved Me - Stromberg's Tanker

James Bond Quantum of Solace
MGM/UA

The battle finales that ended many of the pre-Craig Bond films did sometimes get repetitive, but given how awesome they were it's difficult to complain too much.

The Spy Who Loved Me offers the best variant of this; its climax is like an all-you-can-eat buffet of gloriously OTT thrills, which unfold in some absolutely stunning sets and are choreographed to perfection.

It's exhilarating as all hell and soars to joyously ludicrous heights without ever becoming too ridiculous to enjoy, making this an exceptionally entertaining bit of action cinema that still shames many of today's action flicks.

It's not quite the best Bond climax - after all, it does borrow a lot from past Bond endings - but it might just be the most purely fun of the lot. All in all, absolutely extraordinary stuff.
