The Bond reboot, Casino Royale, is hailed as one of the best films in the series. Not only did it have phenomenal CGI-free action, an astounding theme song, and a tight script, it also had among the best Bond girls, Vesper Lynd, and Bond villains, Le Chiffre.

On paper, the blood-weeping banker doesn't sound particularly appealing. Considering Le Chiffre is an asthmatic coward who can only fight Bond when he's tied up, he sounds like a bit of a wimp. But with the staggeringly talented Mads Mikkelsen in the role, Le Chiffre comes across as an unhinged savage, even when he's not saying a word.

Casino Royale has a lot of astounding fight sequences but watching Le Chiffre getting into Bond's head during the poker tournament is even more intense. The way he tortures Bond in the climax is surprisingly simple but Mikkelson's wicked charm makes the scene unforgettable.
