Every James Bond Movie Ranked Worst To Best

17. Thunderball (1965)

Spectre Daniel Craig
MGM

Like You Only Live Twice, Thunderball is a Connery picture that is sure to rank higher in other people's minds, but is nonetheless tripped up by some major gaffes that let it down here.

Helmed by original Bond director Terence Young, the action flick follows Bond as he takes on Spectre's plans to bomb Miami with NATO weaponry. What follows is a film that's equal parts exciting and tonally frustrating.

With much of the action taking place underwater, Thunderball has a serious issue where pace is concerned, but even so is iconic enough to compensate for its never-ending fight scenes and poor choreography.

From the shark-infested pool to the deliriously fun jetpack and Tom Jones' towering theme song, Thunderball is still classic Bond, even if its pacing issues are too hard to completely overcome.
