Every James Cameron Movie Ranked Worst To Best

4. Titanic (1997)

T2 Judgment Day
20th Century Fox

Titanic was Cameron's first true passion project, an emotionally raw romance that managed to be both epic and warm, incorporating fictional characters with the doomed ocean liner's real passengers to create an enveloping story of one of the world's most devastating and unthinkable disasters.

Produced using accurate scale models and daring special effects to re-create the Titanic's 1912 sinking as authentically as possible, the focus of the film lies with Jack, a working class dreamer who quickly falls in love with the rich and emotionally suffocated Rose, whilst tragedy lurks on the horizon.

At once a stirring historical document and a painfully perfect love story, Titanic is Cameron at his most human and audacious, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet's affectionate performances matching his skill at every turn. It's a blockbuster from a bygone era, one we've never really seen on the big screen since.
