EVERY Jurassic Park & World Death RANKED By Stupidity

41. The Gatekeeper - Jurassic Park

The very first death in the Jurassic franchise came in the very first scene, way back in 1993, and it was this that kicked everything off. This was what triggered the investor investigation that saw Ian Malcolm, Ellie Sattler, and Alan Grant (Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, and Sam Neill) brought to Isla Nublar in the first place.

While transporting a Velociraptor into the park itself, the animal managed to knock its container free of the gate locking mechanism and attacked the gatekeeper with the same viciousness you would expect from such a predator.

Like many on this list, there is a base layer of stupidity here in that they believed they could control these dinosaurs. However, in this instance at least, there were reasonable grounds for them believing such a thing.

Firstly, it seemed as though every precaution was taken, they waited for the cage to lock into the gates, and Robert Muldoon (Bob Peck) was there to supervise. On top of that, moving the Raptors in this way had been a success with seven of the eight that were initially bred, so you could surmise that this death came down to a faulty mechanism/system, which is kind of the story of the whole island.
