Every M. Night Shyamalan Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

5. The Visit (2015)

M Night Shyamalan
Universal Pictures

Following After Earth's critical failure and mediocre commercial showing, it seemed like a found footage flick was just another desperate attempt by Shyamalan to get his groove back.

As it turned out, the film was much better than just about anyone expected, thanks to a fantastic cast (especially Deanna Dunagan as Nana) and a terrific blending of scares and outrageous comedy.

It doesn't try too hard to shock viewers with a silly twist (the reveal is believable and effective instead), and proves to be an above-average spin on an extremely tired horror sub-genre.

Not among Shyamalan's top-tier films, but it was certainly a relief after so many undeniable duds in a row.
