Every M. Night Shyamalan Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

4. Signs (2002)

M Night Shyamalan
Buena Vista Pictures

Signs was basically Shyamalan's best attempt at a Spielberg movie, and though it's cheesy in places, it's overall a solid alien invasion thriller with a firm focus on a family of well-cast, compelling characters.

Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix are a terrific double act (and arguably much better than the film really needs or deserves), this is some of Shyamalan's best direction, and though viewers are largely divided on the ultimate big reveal, we had a damn fun, suspenseful time getting there, didn't we?

There are definitely some logical leaps and even a few plot holes, but in terms of its overall heft, this is a highly enjoyable outing.
