Every Major MCU Villain Ranked Worst To Best
8. Ultron – Avengers: Age of Ultron
Much like Ben Kingsley’s hammy performance in Iron Man 3, people tend to criticise James Spader’s performance in Age Of Ultron as being too over-blown, but it works a lot better than most give it credit for.
He’s a reflection of his creator - and specifically all of the worst parts of him - so of course he’s flamboyant, conceited and arrogant. That’s what Tony Stark used to be.
Spader's Ultron is a charming calculating monster who uses underlings to perfection and casts them off when they become unnecessary and the decision to lead into the Frankenstein story is very rewarding.
And if a villain ought to be judged solely on his deeds, consider this: he took Ulysses Klaue's arm, he caused the Sokovian disaster and most shockingly, he killed Quicksilver - the only time a hero had really been murdered in any MCU film properly up to that point.
