The fourth Thor movie was basically decent - better than The Dark World, worse than Ragnarok, and around the same level as the first.

The rip-roaringly refreshing comedy of Ragnarok felt decidedly more forced and uneven in Taika Waititi's follow-up, which additionally struggled to reconcile the competing tones of bleating magical goats and... cancer.

Natalie Portman finally got some time to shine in the MCU as Jane Foster, yet as fun as the whole Mighty Thor arc was, it felt incredibly rushed and, ultimately, needlessly tossed off in a single movie.

Similarly Christian Bale brought his characteristic commitment to villain Gorr, easily one of Phase 4's more interesting villains, even if his brutal lack of screen time was major letdown.
