20. Halloween Ends

You certainly can't accuse David Gordon Green of just doing the most boring and predictable thing possible with Halloween Ends - quite the opposite, in fact.

While marketed as the epic final showdown between Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney), that ultimately accounted for a mere small sliver of the movie's overcooked runtime.

Green boldly if foolishly opted to shift the focus to an entirely new character we've never met before, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), whose arc throughout the film - and especially his romance with Laurie's granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) - doesn't even remotely convince.

Doing something different isn't inherently the problem with Halloween Ends, but that the different Green came up with just wasn't that interesting.

At least he committed to giving the Laurie-Michael saga a concrete ending, so that's something.
