Every Matthew Vaughn Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

1. Kingsman: The Secret Service

Despite adapting several comic books on the bounce, Matthew Vaughn is yet to lend his name to anything that feels remotely like your typical superhero film.

Based on the comic by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, Kingsman: The Secret Service is what you might get if Trey Parker and Matt Stone were handed full creative control on James Bond to inject some life into 007.

All of Vaughn's talents came into play here - the pacing is breakneck, the action leaves you shaken and stirred, and everything about the film is quintessentially British.

Again, casting choices are a key part of the success. Taron Egerton enjoyed a hugely impressive debut as the chav with a heart of gold Eggsy, while Colin Firth had all the right credentials for the super suave Harry. They're the perfect mentor-student odd couple, and Samuel L. Jackson's Richmond Valentine is a contender for best, and most hilarious, villain of the decade.

At times, Kingsman is crude and bash, but it never fails to redeem itself for stooping low, with dry wit and cheeky charm underpinning every scene.

If you found Moonraker too plausible and tame, this is the subversive Bond alternative you're looking for.
