Yes, Kenneth Branagh directed a Marvel movie. He was an odd choice, but Marvel does have a great knack of making oddball director picks work out well.

Thor isn't very good, but Kenneth Branagh has nothing to regret in regards to his work on the film. Thor was the first MCU film with truly striking visuals and Branagh did a great job in bringing out a real sense of awe and wonder to proceedings, with the setting of Asgard being rendered in a truly epic manner.

While much of the film takes place on Earth, Branagh ensures the film remains an interesting visual piece through and also frames it like a comic book, which brings some much-needed panache to an otherwise dull film. It's a real shame he didn't return for Thor: The Dark World.

Branagh was also the one who brought Tom Hiddleston on-board, having worked with him on BBC's Wallander, so we have that to thank him for as well.
