28. Thor (2011)
The first Thor film wasn't entirely popular when it came out, but time has seen it age far better than most of the MCU's lesser instalments.
A simple debut in which Thor is sent down to earth, powerless to defend himself or his home from his conniving brother, the film tracks the God of Thunder's growth from spoilt prince to sensitive hero and romantic lead wonderfully, even if its uneven pace struggles to balance the drama that surrounds him.
Despite the vastness of the world he inhabits, it could be argued Thor is too thin, but there remains in its refreshing simplicity a genuinely effective character study. It's by no means a masterpiece -- stilted humour and pacing issues'll do that -- but it's still an imperfect gem worth revisiting.
