Moon Knight hinges almost entirely on the central performance of Oscar Isaac, who as Marc Spector -- a man with dissociative identity disorder and connections to an Egyptian god -- proves why he's one of our most versatile actors.

Intense and dark, the show offers insight into a new world the MCU has long kept hidden, and balances its sensitive mental health portrayals gracefully with its compelling mythology. Still, its convoluted story feels somewhat more stretched than if it had been a movie, and that gets in its way.

So too do the visual effects, which appear borderline unfinished in parts, and the messiness of its twisty central conflict. Even if you're only watching it to see Isaac strut his stuff, though, there's plenty in Moon Knight's drama to enjoy.
