40. The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania
Marvel Studios

Forever destined to be the black sheep of the MCU, The Incredible Hulk was only the franchise's second instalment. Still finding its feet and considering how to get where it needs to be, the MCU leaves Jolly Green's origin story dead in the water.

Starring Edward Norton as Bruce Banner (soon to be wisely recast by Mark Ruffalo), the surprisingly dark debut of the Hulk stumbles through its story with little care, produced as more of a generic action flick than the character-driven tale of morality it should have been.

It's so adrift and forgettable, in fact -- save for Tim Roth's Emil Blonsky/Abomination -- that it actually feels wrong counting The Incredible Hulk as an MCU film at all. The franchise has never been so disposable.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Be excellent to each other.
