Every MCU Romance Ranked From Worst To Best
Is Star-Lord and Gamora Marvel's greatest love story?
When it comes to superhero movies, Marvel's Cinematic Universe is undoubtedly the cream of the crop. From its ever-growing line-up of compelling characters to its incredible knack for long-form storytelling, the MCU has produced an endless supply of entertaining spectacles that tick all the boxes when it comes to satisfying moviegoers.
However, despite all of its record-breaking success, there is one area in which it still falters, and that is romance.
Though most of the MCU films feature some kind of romance and/or relationship between their respective characters, very few are particularly noteworthy - with most of them just being either a goal for the protagonist to reach or an obstacle to overcome. That doesn't necessarily mean that they're bad either, as the majority of them tend to settle in and around the middle-of-the-road bracket. This usually leaves them feeling like an obligatory beat for the script to hit instead of a well-developed plot point.
That being said, there are a few that set themselves apart from the typical tropey love story and resonate with viewers on an emotional level, while there are others that leave a lot to be desired...

12. Steve Rogers & Sharon Carter
First up we have a romance so forced that it ended almost as quickly as it started.
Captain America's romantic attraction to Sharon Carter existed simply because it happened in the comics but, after the exceptional execution of his previous romance, this was just never going to work. And it's that previous romance that makes this one feel wrong, on so many levels.
Though their brief interactions in Captain America: The Winter Soldier suggested that a romance could have worked at some point (had she been another character), it was clear that Steve was still heartbroken over the realisation that he would never be with his old flame, Peggy Carter, so when he learned that Sharon was actually the niece of that flame, he should have nipped whatever it was they had in the bud immediately. But instead, they kissed... days after Peggy's death.
Aside from the weirdness, there was just too much happening in Cap's world for this to get the attention it needed, so what we got was rather forced and, quite frankly, paled in comparison to what Steve had with Peggy.
