Every Mitchell And Webb Film And TV Project Ranked From Worst To Best

19. Blessed

A horribly predictable sitcom here from the mind of Ben Elton, focusing on the struggles of Ardal O’Hanlon (aka Dougal from Father Ted) as record producer Gary Chandler along with the trials and tribulations of raising two young children.

In the first appearance on this list for Robert Webb, he appears as one half of a couple of awfully smug neighbours, who’s well adjusted lives and and well behaved children serve to highlight the troubles of the Chandler house.

The 2005 series is only really remembered as one of the worst sitcoms of recent BBC history, with its end after a singular 8 episode run mourned by precisely nobody. This would begin a long TV losing streak for Ben Elton, culminating in 2013’s The Wright Way, which the Daily Mirror would call “the worst sitcom ever”. In a neat coincidence, Elton’s work would return to form collaborating with David Mitchell on Upstart Crow.
