Every Modern Disney Live Action Remake (So Far) Ranked
6. Christopher Robin (2018)
Another one of the more different adaptations that feel more like a spinoff than any sort of "remake", Christopher Robin has a lot of heart and a great lesson about retaining childhood wonder that really resonate in darker times.
Winnie The Pooh (along with the rest of the residents of the Hundred Acre Woods) is endlessly charming, with Jim Cummings keeping the magic alive and the CG providing a sweet real-world interpretation that hearken back to the original Milne art. Ewan McGregor plays a fine Christopher Robin, just world-weary enough but also just hopeful enough to pull off the character.
It might have ranked higher if it wasn't for the plot running just a bit longer than it felt like it should have, and the fact that the toys turn out to be real to everyone rather than it being more ambiguous just feels a bit... unusual, even if not an outright bad choice.
It's a heartening film that's largely well-made, and even if it's far from the best Disney's remakes-slash-spinoffs have to offer, it's certainly worth the watch.
