Every Modern Disney Live Action Remake (So Far) Ranked

5. Beauty And The Beast (2017)

The Lion King Simba
Disney

Beauty and The Beast counts among Disney's more exact retreads of old source material, rather than remakes that do anything different. The most notable changes made to this film were, in fact, largely negative, such as the dress (which didn't actually need updating). Not that the film changed much.

The film brings nothing truly new to the table, but the way it adapts 2D to live action is vibrant and well done, with the songs just as enjoyable and the performances just as compelling and fun.

The cast does a fine job, with some highlights being Josh Gad as the over the top LeFou, and Emma Watson and Dan Stevens having great chemistry.

The only downside is that this film has nothing else to offer, and compared to the original, nothing is much better - the music, is in fact, overall just not as good.

It's a fun experience, and vibrant visually, and the performances are solid, but it does absolutely nothing else with the source material. And while it works, there are other films that just work better.
