Every Ridley Scott Movie Ranked Worst To Best

12. Legend (1985)

Where do you go after creating two of the greatest and most influential sci-fi movies ever made?

That's the question Ridley Scott was forced to contemplate in 1985, and instead of trying his hand at yet another genre-defining sci-fi yarn, he flipped expectations on their head and went for a dark fantasy adventure in which a young man (Tom Cruise) is forced to confront the world-ending plans of the Lord of Darkness (Tim Curry).

Legend is, as a whole, a fairly typical good vs. evil fantasy film, in which an unlikely hero must rise to the challenge and smite down the villainy in his path. But because of Ridley Scott's stirring imagination and Tim Curry's truly unforgettable turn as the Devil, it still ranks as one of the better fantasy films of the 80s and 90s.

It's no Blade Runner, but Legend is still a great film, and a stirring insight into Scott's boundless talents as an epic filmmaker.
