Every Ridley Scott Movie Ranked Worst To Best
13. Prometheus (2012)
Prometheus offered Alien fans a chance to welcome Ridley Scott back to the franchise he created. And, despite the film's initial divisive reception, the results aren't quite as bad as people have been led to believe.
Of all the Alien franchise's installments, Prometheus is perhaps the most hauntingly beautiful and daring, and though it struggles to offer up many answers to the difficult pseudo-religious themes it brings up, it has to be commended for offering something new and honestly refreshing to the otherwise tired series.
Sure, it's occasionally heavy-handed and over ambitious, but between Michael Fassbender's chilling turn as android David, Noomi Rapace's instantly iconic performance as the franchise's latest badass female protagonist, and the sweeping alien sets and claustrophobia, Prometheus is still a successful project for the veteran filmmaker.
Polishing up the themes would have helped - and ironing out the many plot holes would have gone a long way, too - but all-in-all it's still one hell of an interesting ride, in need of a possible re-evaluation.
