Every Ridley Scott Movie Ranked Worst To Best
3. Thelma & Louise (1991)
Ridley Scott thrives off creating epic movies, and whilst Thelma & Louise is one of his most subtle and character-driven works, it doesn't feel any less epic and astonishing than his most expansive blockbusters.
After killing an attempted rapist, Thelma (Geena Davis) and Louise (Susan Sarandon) take to the open road as they flee the authorities on their tail. Ending with one of cinema's most iconic and powerful final shots, Thelma & Louise has since slipped into classic status, and remains today one of the most exciting and unforgettable additions to feminist film.
Even thirty years on, Thelma & Louise feels as timely and surprising as ever. It's funny, dark and sold by the merits of Davis and Sarandon's flawless performances alone.
Like all of Ridley Scott's best work, Thelma & Louise works because the characters are so fresh and fleshed-out, and few can claim to be as important and memorable as this drama's eponymous leads.
