Every Saw Film Ranked From Worst To Best
3. Saw II
Plot: Eight people wake up in a warehouse and are put through a series of harrowing games, while the police try to save them. One of the police, Eric Matthews is put through a brutal test of his own.
The first Saw sequel was one that only one other Saw sequel has ever managed to top.
A brutal, creative and intense thrill ride that's elevated by a great story, smart direction, solid acting across the board and another fantastic twist ending, Saw II is an effective and thoroughly enjoyable horror sequel that knows exactly what a sequel should do.
It ups the stakes, presents a larger-scale scenario and expands the world of the first film, while it also allowed viewers to get to know Jigsaw for the first time. In this movie, he fully established himself as one of horror's greatest villains.
Of course, it's not perfect. The pacing is uneven and the smaller traps in the warehouse do become repetitive. Therefore, it's not as good as the first film (although the acting is a huge step-up), but it is still a good sequel and remains one of the franchise's best instalments.
