Every Spike Lee Movie Ranked Worst To Best

9. Jungle Fever (1991)

Do The Right Thing
Universal Pictures

Best remembered for Samuel L. Jackson's scene-stealing and delicately moving performance as drug addict Gator, Jungle Fever follows married architect Flipper (Wesley Snipes) and the affair with his secretary Angie (Annabella Sciorra) that tears his family and friends apart.

A sharp slice-of-life drama that tackles everything from interracial relationships, prejudice and the complexities of drug addiction, the film moves between subplots with remarkable ease and features plenty of tear-inducing revelations thanks in large part to its unflinchingly honest performances.

Snipes (whose career peaked here) has never been better, Sciorra is heartbreaking, and Sam Jackson steals the show with his career's most sensitive and touching role. It's a highly emotional journey, but remains a high-point for Lee in terms of the important and difficult conversations he dares to face.
