Every Star Trek Movie Villain Ranked From Worst To Best

15. Whale Probe

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home is one of the strongest of the films, featuring one of the most powerful 'villains' in the franchise. The Whale Probe that arrives in Earth's orbit seeking Humpback Whales to shoot the breeze manages to cripple several vessels, Spacedock and the planetary power grid during its search.

Its intentions are never truly understood. The USS Saratoga is one of the first ships to fall victim, with everything losing power quickly. The Yorktown is in dire straits as well, resorting to deploying a makeshift solar sail to generate the necessary power to keep the crew alive.

Only by travelling back in time, sourcing two Humpback Whales and returning them to the present is the Probe appeased. A short communication between it and the animals results in its departure from orbit, restoring all power along the way. While the craft may never have meant any true harm to Humanity, its sheer power was enough to remind all that they were far from being the masters of their universe, nor the only lives of interest on Earth.
