Every Star Trek Movie Villain Ranked From Worst To Best

12. Valeris

Star Trek The Undiscovered Country Valeris
Paramount Pictures

Betrayal cuts deep, especially between Vulcans. Valeris was, for a short time, the helmsman of the Enterprise-A. She was also a protege of Spock's, while also being the first Vulcan to graduate at the top of her class from the Academy. She was, in essence, a perfect officer.

Behind the scenes, she was initially meant to be Saavik, returning for a third outing. However, neither Kirsty Alley or Robin Curtis were available to reprise the role and Kim Cattrall didn't want to be the third actress to play the same role. She was retooled to become Valeris.

She is involved in the conspiracy to assassinate Chancellor Gorkon and the Federation President. This, she and her co-conspirators claim, is done to save the Federation from its own short-sightedness. Peace with the Klingons would be a disaster, so they resort to clandestine measures to block it from happening.

They very nearly succeed, only to be foiled by the Enterprise-A and the Excelsior, with both crews working together to stop the next assassination from taking place. She is arrested and her career ends in disgrace.
