40. The Dark Tower (2017)
If we were ranking these films on how faithful they are to their source material, the long-gestating Dark Tower would probably come dead last. It's a jumbled adaptation of King's most epic novel series, to be sure, but worse still is how stylistically dull it all is.
To his credit, Idris Elba makes for a fitting badass gunslinger (the less said about McConaughey, the better), but everything around him is merely a thumbnail sketch of the epic thriller The Dark Tower should have been. There's fun references to King's most famous work, sure, but at what cost? Fan service can't make up for how damn generic this thing is.
