Every Stephen King Movie Ranked Worst To Best

8. The Green Mile (1999)

Michael Clarke Duncan The Green Mile
Warner Bros.

The flaws of The Green Mile, yet another staggering adaptation from the mind of Frank Darabont, are well-documented and inescapable, from its crushingly long runtime to its wonky genre-mixing.

But here's the thing: None of this really matters in the end, because the drama of its story is so shattering, its performances so true and its conclusions so disarming that whatever issues it may have are easy to toss aside and forgive.

The story of an innocent death row prisoner (a wrenching Michael Clarke Duncan) doomed to execution and blessed with healing powers, The Green Mile is the most emotional of King movies, its human touch and slow burn horrors a spell that bewitches and breaks hearts from the very first frame.
