Every Steven Soderbergh Movie Ranked Worst To Best
28. The Laundromat (2019)
Like the vast majority of Netflix Originals, the star-studded comedy-drama The Laundromat feels like nothing more than a carelessly constructed, rushed-out movie that hides its lack of originality or charm behind its big-name cast.
Starring Meryl Streep, Gary Oldman and Antonio Banderas (amongst many, many others), the film follows three unlikely partners-in-crime as they exploit the American financial system.
What sounds like a sure-fire Soderbergh classic, The Laundromat powers through its plot with little conviction, and wastes its embarrassingly packed cast with a script that allows for minimal development or understanding.
Soderbergh's eye for colourful direction and flashy set-pieces are well intended, but unfortunately his skill ends up trapped in a mediocre-at-best flop.
