Every Transformers Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
4. Transformers: Dark Of The Moon

Easily the best of the sequels, 2009's Dark of the Moon actually offers up a fairly fun and interesting frame story, centred around the Space Race and the Transformers' role in it.
Though new female lead Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is sadly no substitute for Megan Fox - which, honestly, isn't saying much at all - the supporting cast is hilariously over-qualified, with not only John Malkovich and Frances McDormand grabbing some easy paychecks, but also Leonard Nimoy returning to the franchise to voice Sentinel Prime.
What really makes the movie work, however, is its firm commitment to insane action while scaling back the inane melodrama.
The climactic Battle of Chicago is pretty much a solid hour of explosions and gorgeous CGI, and while some might call it too much, it's easy to admire Bay's desire to one-up what came before.
You could probably trim an additional half-hour off the first two acts and it'd actually dare to be genuinely good. As it stands, you probably want to start watching about 90 minutes in and just enjoy the final hour of Bayhem.
