16. Dumbo

Once upon a time, the idea of a new big-screen take on Dumbo from director Tim Burton would've guaranteed excitement in this movie (especially from 14-year-old me), but his stock has fallen considerably this past decade.

What's worse, though, is that it's being written by Ehren Kruger, screenwriter of the likes of Ring Two, Reindeer Games, and three Transformers movies.

And yet, remarkably, the first teaser looked impressive, dark, and emotional. When Burton is on song he's genuinely brilliant, and if he can return to previous form then he should be a perfect match for the material here. He has a great cast too, including Colin Farrel, Eva Green, and Michael Keaton, so hopefully this will see him bouncing back in a big way.
