Every Upcoming Disney Movie - Ranked
3. Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Release Date: 15th December, 2017
Status: Completed. Trailers revealed.
Han Solo may be no more, but the intriguingly titled Star Wars: The Last Jedi still has a lot of loose ends to tie up and even more to further unravel. After the first trailer, and the ominous warning that the Jedi Order needs to end, we should probably all prime ourselves for lots of grimness.
Having seen The Force Awakens make billions, there's a certain element that Disney could make whatever the hell they want out of The Last Jedi and it would still be watched enough to make similar amounts. But, they'd never do that, will they?
We're always told that Star Wars rhymes, so the mid-trilogy film should be as dark as The Empire Strikes Back and we should see the central cast split up for their own stories in the same way. That means more insight into Luke's backstory as a Jedi teacher, more revelations concerning Kylo Ren and Snoke and more political insurrection probably.
Whatever the specifics, it's definitely in good hands with Rian Johnson.
