Every Will Smith Movie Ranked Worst To Best

21. The Legend Of Bagger Vance (2000)

King Richard
DreamWorks

Of all Will Smith's films, The Legend of Bagger Vance has aged the worst. Here, he plays the titular character, a mysterious loner who helps a troubled soldier master the game of golf.

Fairly lambasted due to its "Magical Negro" tropes and lack of emotional substance despite its ambitious premise and star power, the drama really is as ill-judged as you remember, and would definitely not be made the same way today.

Don't let that distract you too much, though: Focus on Smith and the subtly and charm he brings to the role, and you'll recall why he became such a star in the first place.
