Every Will Smith Movie Ranked Worst To Best

23. Hancock (2008)

King Richard
Columbia Pictures

Though many of Smith's worst films are simply wasted opportunities, none sport concepts quite as glaringly misused as Peter Berg's superhero drama Hancock.

Smith plays the eponymous character as a washed-up hero with a serious image problem, lost to a life that's a mismatch of fragmented memories, alcoholism and violence. And the first act of the movie is pretty damn great because of him.

Unfortunately, the script calls for about a dozen twists too many further down the line, and even Smith's raging performance isn't enough to save it. It's frustrating to watch in the end; a better story could've made it a classic.
