15. Apocalypse

The big purple headed monster gets a lot of grief, but he's not really as bad as some people might have you believe. Sure, Oscar Isaac is wasted under too much make-up and rubber and ends up having to over-compensate with a lot of silly, hammy over-acting, but there's at least something to admire in how big he goes for it.

Apocalypse is a bit of a cheat bad guy, really, because he's so powerful that he can manifest his powers in any way he likes. He's effectively a Swiss Army Mutant and while that's great for making him a threat, it also means that taking him down lacks a believability factor - particularly when it's done the way it's done in this film.

He looked goofy, but it's a little too easy to forget that the X-Men all looked a bit goofy in the comics for years and it was only a conscious effort to ground them a bit that meant characters like Apocalypse stood out.
