Everything We Know About The X-Men & Fantastic Four In The MCU

6. We're "Unlikely" To See Them Until 2021

A knock-on effect of that last point, THR recently reported that the MCU's X-Men and Fantastic Four are "unlikely" to appear onscreen until 2021, at the earliest. That sounds like it's an absolute age away, and while it's disappointing that we might have to wait that long, a 2021 date does make a lot of sense.

Again, if Feige is saying - as recently as last December - that Marvel doesn't have any plans for these new characters (he also told The Playlist that Fox's characters won't affect any imminent MCU movies), then they're not going to have a cameo in Endgame, or Far From Home. They're certainly not going to have their own movies this year, or next year.

Feige likes to plan the MCU years in advance, so chances are, he has to shuffle some things around in order to make room for the new characters he's just inherited. In a billion-dollar cinematic universe, every single creative decision is important, and these things take time.

Not to mention that it takes years to develop big-budget projects, and casting, hiring a director, and writing a script are lengthy processes that are important to get right. Sure, we could see an X-Man or two have a cameo in a 2020 movie (post-credits or otherwise), but 2021 seems like the earliest date that we'll really get into the meat of these characters' storylines.

At the end of the day, Feige hasn't let us down yet, so we can count on him to bring the X-Men and the Fantastic Four into the MCU in the right way.
