Everything We Know About The X-Men & Fantastic Four In The MCU

7. Marvel Studios Hasn't Formulated Plans For The Characters (Yet)

Even though Marvel Studios probably expected that the Disney-Fox deal would close without any issues, it wouldn't have made sense for them to start planning any movies involving the X-Men and the Fantastic Four until those characters were safely under Disney's control.

Now that this is the case, they can start figuring out their plan for introducing these characters into the MCU. However, on the downside, the fact that the deal only just closed means that Marvel won't have any concrete plans in that area, something confirmed by Kevin Feige a couple of months ago.

During a December 2018 episode of Variety's Playback Podcast, Feige told the outlet that Marvel Studios hadn't yet started planning anything X-Men or Fantastic Four related:

"But in terms of actually thinking about it and actually planning things, we haven’t started that yet.”

Sure, Feige will definitely have ideas in his head, and has maybe sketched out a rough roadmap, or something along those lines. But things like greenlighting projects, casting characters and working out storylines had to wait until the merger was fully completed. Now that it is, the really exciting work begins!
