The Expendables 3: 10 Action Behemoths The Franchise Is Still Missing

7. Kurt Russell

Speaking of John Carpenter, the cult filmmaker also created one of the all-time great action icons when he cast former Disney child star Kurt Russell in the role of Snake Plissken in 1981's Escape from New York. Five years later the two would re-team for the classic action movie Big Trouble in Little China, which pit Russell against hordes of underground bandits. Russell would go on to star in dozens of films of all different genres, including co-starring with Stallone in the buddy cop comedy Tango & Cash, but his most iconic role remains the one-eyed war hero turned mercenary. Russell€™s bold and gritty action persona would make him a great fit in the €œsuper soldier€ role, like Chuck Norris€™ character in The Expendables 2. Russell doesn't do that many movies these days, and he's backed away from the violent action films he did in the 1980s. Though he was rumoured to join the Expendables 3 cast, he instead decided to make his return to his action movie glory days in next year's Fast & Furious 7 instead. Let's hope that the action movie bug bit Russell again while he was working with Vin Diesel and The Rock and he€™ll change his mind about appearing in the next Expendables.
