Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them: 8 Possible Harry Potter Cameos

3. Bathilda Bagshot

The friend with whom Muriel€™s mother discussed the events of Ariana Dumbledore€™s funeral was none other than Bathilda Bagshot, putting her date of birth somewhere in the mid to late 19th century. She is best known in the Wizarding world as the author of Hogwarts textbook A History of Magic, though her most memorable moment in the series actually came about after her death when Voldemort hid his snake inside of her as a trap for Harry. Her early life is what we are interested in here, however, and how she might fit into Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. Well, Bathilda was the great-aunt of world famous Dark Wizard Gellert Grindelwald, and it was actually her who introduced him to Albus Dumbledore when her great-nephew came to stay with her in Godric€™s Hollow for the summer. How much Bagshot knew about her great-nephew€™s opinions on the subjugation of Muggles is unknown, though it would be interesting to see just how much of an influence she was on him. Of course, Bagshot being a celebrated author means that there is also a chance that Newt will be introduced to her after his own book is commissioned, where the seeds of a potential meeting with Grindelwald could be sown.
