Fantastic Beasts: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best

8. Credence Barebone

Like his sister, Credence Barebone is a consciously guarded character, not really his extra dimensions until the very end of the film after his big secret is revealed. He's sort of the anti-Tom Riddle, who has suppressed his powers purposefully only to see them explode out, and in retrospect, Ezra Miller's twitching, pained performance makes a lot more sense when you realise he's basically trying to suppress his puberty.

He's very much like a Carrie sort of figure, taught to believe that his natural urges - in this case to magic - are dirty and evil and deserve serious physical punishment. And of course he'd be socially broken as a result, which is why the performance isn't the most verbal or showy.

And Miller definitely has good chemistry acting alongside more powerful characters.
